Five Teams Pick Captains

Five spring teams elected captains for the 1970-71 season this week. Elected were: Walter Johnson (track). Bill Washauer (tennis). Fred Sherman (golf). Rick Frisbie (lacrosse), and Dave Harmon (lightweight crew).

Johnson. a two-year lettermen, was a consistent winner inthe 120-yard high hurdles and the 440 intermediate hurdles this spring as the track team rolled to its second consecutive undefeated season. He also triple jumped and ran the second leg of the mile relay. Middle distance runner Erik Roth won the award for most improvement.

Goeltz Upender

The tennis team tied for its third straight EITA title when Princeton decided to forfeit its last three matches in support of the national strike, but in the Crimson's 5-4 loss to the Tigers, Washaner upended Bobby Goeltz at number one singles and teamed with Chris Nielsen to win number one doubles. Washaner was 7-3 during the spring season.

Sherman played competitive golf at Harvard for the first time this season and, golfing in the number seven position, he compiled a 12-2 record, the best on the team. "It's really a good feeling." Sherman said after his election yesterday afternoon.

Frisbie, an all-Ivy League cornerback on the football team last fall, played center-drawer for the second midfield this spring. He is one of the most aggressive members of the team, and was a consistent scorer on hard shots from the outside.

This year's lacrosse captain. Bruce Regan, was awarded both the Class of '59 Award for hustle and spirit and the ground ball award for scooping up the most ground balls during the season Regan, All-Ivy and honorable mention All-American as a midfielder last spring, won the ground ball prize for the second year in a row.

Harman was voted captain by his teammates for the second consecutive year yesterday afternoon. Rowing stroke this season, he paced the lights to their sixth undefeated season in a row.

The heavyweight crew will elect its captain for next year at its Red Top training site-where it prepares for the Yale race in June, Joe Worth will complete his term as sailing captain next fall.
