Harvard Accepts Bid To Area Hoop Tourney

By J. G. P.

Eager for a chance to display its "newlook" varsity basketball squad locally next winter. Harvard has consented to enter a revived Beanpot basketball tournament, beginning with a game next December 1 against Boston University at Boston Garden.

There was an earlier attempt at such a tournament several years ago, patterned after the highly popular Beanpot hockey tournament, but since Harvard refused to enter. Tufts was recruited instead, and the undertaking never reached its potential. It later changed its named to the Colonial Tournament. Boston College will meet Northeastern in the other first round game, with the winners meeting for the title on Dec. 7.
