The Campus Studies Institute, a right-wing organization based in San Diego, has mailed leaflets to college students throughout the country, including over 7000 at Harvard, in an attempt "to change the behaviour patterns of American college students in contemporary society through information."
The Literature-which contrasts conservative and radical opinions on such topics as Vietnam, ecology, and civil disobedience-is designed, according to one leaflet, to force students to ask themselves "why they react to situations by tearing down buildings, burning and destroying property."
Political Campaigning
Theodore Leofller, institute organizer, said yesterday that his organization is a group of sociologists and psychologists who, aside from their mailing activities, also actively campaign to elect conservative candidates to political offices throughout the state of California.
Several Harvard students who have received the leaflets said that they resented receiving the unsolicited literature.
"The literature contained a lot of quotes out of context," one said, "and even out of context, the ones from the left sounded better."
