Members of the November Action Committee (NAC) will stage a demonstration on February 11 at the Office for Graduate and Career Plans (OGandCP) to obstruct the recruitment efforts of the United States Naval Weapons Laboratory representative.
At a meeting last night in Burr A, approximately 50 students voted to block the recruiter. They call his presence "a deliberate act of provocation" by the University and said that they would attack the recruitment as "part of American imperialism."
They called the coming demonstration "the beginning of a spring anti-imperialism campaign" which would also include a fight against Harvard's involvement with large corporations.
Students at the meeting discussed a militant picket line, an obstructive sit-in at the OGandCP, a public debate with the the representative and guerrilla theatre as possible actions at the demonstration.
Unsure of Tactics
They voted, however, to wait until Monday night's NAC meeting to decide on a specific plan. Until then they will canvass the Harvard Houses and Radcliffe dorms for support.
The meeting appointed a steering committee to coordinate the week's activities. Members are Joshua B. Freeman 70, David C. Plotke '71, Ellen R. Peters '70, and Elizabeth S. Spelke '71.
The students also voted not to support a week-long April strike against the war planned by the New Mobilization and Moratorium Committees. However, they will attend the Boston conference of antiwar groups planned for this month.
