JV Hockey Team Smashes A. I. C. For Coach Hutchinson's 150th Win

The junior varsity sextet handed coach Jim Hutchinson his 150th career victory yesterday with a 13-1 shellacking over the American International College (A.I.C.) freshmen. Captain Eddie Gallagher and Bob Farrell's hat trick paced the assault.

Hutchinson, known affectionately by his players and the Dillon crowd as "Hutch." started the modern junior varsity program and has single-handedly maintained it, "Without Hutch there would be no junior varsity," Gallagher said.

"He's worked hard and sacrificed a lot of time to provide an opportunity for many good athletes who could not make the varsity. Harvard has a wealth of talent, but without the junior varsity a lot of it would be wasted. He's been great. Gallagher added.

No Trouble

The milestone victory itself was never really in doubt. A.I.C. scored with only forty seconds gone, but Gallagher knotted the count a minute later and from there the Crimson coasted. With ten minutes gone in the first period, Harvard led. 5-1.

There was no point in finishing the game and they didn't. Outmanned in all aspects of the game. A.I.C. became flustered and a bit pushy, especially in front of the net. With less than a minute left. Peter Watson paired off with a burly defenseman and wrestled him to the ice.

While the rest of the players gathered to watch the struggle, the referee decided to go home and quickly called the game. There had been several other altercations earlier.

By that time. though. Hutch and the team had their win. Harvard passed well throughout. Caleb Warren and Watson each netted two goals, while Mel Connell and defenseman Andy Burnes both picked up three assists.
