Yardling Cagers Edge B.C., 94-91; Last Minute Shot Clinches Victory

Forward James Brown connected on a ten-foot jump shot in the last 25 seconds of the game to break an 89-89 deadlock and carry the Harvard Freshmen to a narrow 94-91 win over a talented Boston College team Saturday night at the IAB.

The win gives the Crimson a 14-2 record as it prepares for two final games this weekend in the IAB. Friday, the freshmen host Brown, and Saturday, Yale. Both games begin at 6 p.m.

The Yardlings jumped off to a quick lead in the early minutes of the first half, but went into the dressing room with a narrow 52-50 halftime advantage. Eightpoint Harvard leads dwindled many times as B.C. repeatedly fought back to narrow the margin.

After the lead changed hands six times during the early minutes of the second half, center Floyd Lewis bucket at 12:28 gave the Yardlings a fragile lead that they held onto until the final minutes.

B.C. roared back to tie Harvard twice in the final two minutes despite Lewis' and Brown's combined efforts to pull the Yardlings ahead to stay. With the score knotted at 89-89 Brown completed a three-point play to give the Yardlings the lead they never lost.
