8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
South House won last week's Radcliffe Fall Swimming Marathon despite heroic efforts by three North House swimmers. Thomas Beale of North House was the leading swimmer.
"We were overwhelmed by superior depth but the male chauvinist rules of the Radcliffe pool helped me." According to Beale men with long hair did not have to wear swimming caps although all women were required to wear them.
'Real Jock'
John Burris and Roann Coston, both of North House, followed Beale in the individual competition. Beale termed Costin "a real jock who can really swim."
The competition lasted five days and swimmers could swim during two one-hour periods each day. Competitors were limited O 100 20-yard laps a day.
