Harvard's varsity wrestling team placed individuals in all ten weight classes in the finals of the first annual Greater Boston Collegiate Wrestling Tournament last night to lead the competition held at Tufts' Cousens Gymnasium.
After qualifying in the quarterfinals and semifinal rounds yesterday, the Crimson will advance to the finals at 8 p. m. tonight. Harvard racked up an untouchable team lead last night leaving Boston College and M. I. T. fighting for a distant second.
Six Harvard wrestlers entered the tournament seeded number one. The favorites included captain Pat Coleman (150 1b.), Colin Mangrum (158 1b.), Eastern runner-up and NCAA quarterfinalist Mark Faller (167 1b.), Richie Starr (177 1b.), Dave Scanlon (190 1b.), and heavyweight Tom Tripp.
Harvard wrestlers accomplished six pins in 16 matches with Tripp's 34-second fall in the semifinals being the fastest recorded last night.
