Approximately 70 devotees of the art of Tae Kwon Do, the Korean art of self-defense, gathered at Radcliffe's Agassiz Gym last night to demonstrate their answer to the breakdown of law and order.
Tae Kwon Do, which is similar to karate, is a ritualized method of self-defense, involving short, sharp jabs of the hands and feet, accompanied by loud screams and groans.
The 70 students, members of Tae Kwon Do clubs at universities throughout Greater Boston, demonstrated in unison several of the movements to an attentive audience of more than 30. "Jesus," one observer said, "they look kind of menacing. I'm glad I'm not in the attacking business."
