The Mail TUITION INCREASE?

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Your account of a telephone conversation with me in Tuesday's CRIMSON gives a quite erroneous impression of my attitude on one essential point. We do not regard tuition increases as a frivolous matter, and the sad little attempt at humor about Christmas began with your reporter, not with me, although I foolishly Joined in it. I did try to emphasize to him that tuition increases are never good, only necessary, and that we shall try to settle the matter promptly so as to give as much notice as possible to all concerned. Neither of these comments seems to have survived into print. But no increase in the cost of a college education is a joke, and I fear that our joint carelessness may have given a wrong impression to many students. For my part I apologize, and I hope your reporter may join me.

Editors note: The CRIMSON joins Dean Bundy in regretting any suggestion of levity in its story.
