Black Legal Scholars Attend Forum Today

More than 20 influential black lawyers, judges and law professors will gather at the Law School today for the first part of a special two-day symposium on "The Black Lawyer in America Today."

The symposium, which is the first at the Law School, is expected to attract 150 lawyers. judges and professors from outside the Boston area and another 150 Law School students and faculty, Walter J. Lconard, assistant dean of the Law School. said yesterday.

Leonard, who is one of the two black members of the Law School faculty, organized the symposium.

He said yesterday that the participants in the symposium will conduct panel discussions intended to answer the questions of black law school graduates just entering the legal profession.

The panel discussions, which are free and open to the public, will cover seven different aspects of the role of the black lawyer.
