The Young Workers Liberation League and the Communist Party will picket the JFK building in Government Center at 5 p. m. today to protest federal action against Angela Davis.
This will be the first action openly sponsored by the Communist Party in Boston since the McCarthy era, according to a member of the YWLL. The picket line is also one of the first actions of the League, a group of 25-30 young workers and some students.
The picketers also hope to start a defense fund for Davis. She was arrested by the FBI on Oct. 13, on charges of complicity in the kidnapping and murder of Judge Harold Haley during the trial of two Black Panthers in San Rafael, California. If convicted, she could get the death sentence.
The Boston police said they will have extra men in the area for the demonstration, though "orderly" demonstrations are allowed in the Government Center area. YWLL does not have a permit, according to one member, but from other experiences in the area, they expect no trouble.
