Kapp Stubs Toe

Ex-Viking, now-Patriot quarterback Joe Kapp faltered under pressure Sunday afternoon in his starting debut at Harvard Stadium, and the listless New York Ciants managed a 16-0 victory before 39,000 blithering Boston football fans.

Kapp took the Patriots deep into Giant territory twice during the third period, but was dropped for a 12-yard loss on third down at the New York 12 and fired a jump pass directly at Giant linebacker Matt Hazeltine from the 18 later in the same period.

Meanwhile back in Minneapolis, the Vikings were showing the effects of Kapp's permanent departure as they handed the once-proud Dallas Cowboys their worst defeat ever, 54-13.

And down in New York, Joe Namath only completed 34 of 62 passes. Six of those went to the Baltimore Colts' defensive backfield and the Colts left the Jets in the cellar with Boston, 29-22.
