Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
Twenty outstanding athletes of the past have been elected to the Harvard Varsity Club Hall of Fame.
The list includes three legendary performers apiece in football and golf, two selections each from crew, track, hockey, squash, baseball, and lacrosse, and one each from tennis and soccer.
Most selections were from the 1933-36 era with some from earlier periods.
Representing football in the selections are the late Charlie Brickley '15. Irad Hardy Jr. 33, and Kopans '34. Brickley holds all-time Harvard records for most touchdowns (23), most field goals (25), and most points (215): Hardy was a tough two-way tackle on the 1931 Harvard team that allowed only 29 points in eight games; and Kopans was an All-American nominee as a lineman in 1933.
Induction of the 20 new members will be made at the fourth annual Varsity Club Hall of Fame dinner on Friday, Oct. 23, at the Harvard Club of Boston. Another highlight of the program will be the formal induction of William T. Reid '01, into the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame.
