In a dramatic last-minute rally, the Adams House Seniors beat the Senior Common Room in softball, 58-57, to emerge victorious and set the order of the universe straight again. The seniors, coached by Jody Markowski, had to overcome a 38-run deficit in the ninth inning.
Led by Bill "Crazylegs" Liller, the House staff had underhandedly attempted to subvert the seniors by bringing countless cases of beer and then discreetly refraining from indulging themselves. This insidious plot was discovered in the 6th inning. When the seniors found themselves behind by a score of 49-3. All would have been lost had it not been for the bases-loaded homer by senior pitcher Jan Halverson that triggered the 39-run 9th inning rally.
Liller and "Jamesian Joe" Butwin tied for the MVP award. A special citation for duty above and beyond the call went to Jerry "Bull"Gerst, the corn-fed lowan, for stealing home from first on a pop fly and two errors and scoring the winning run. Gerst suffered multiple lacerations of the knees, but Stillman reports that he will be able to play in next week's rematch.
