WASHINGTON--Eugene J. McCarthy (D-Minn.) said yesterday that Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) is the current most likely winner for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination.
Fielding questions on other major issues on a CBS radio program, McCarthy:
* left the door open for changing his position that he will not run for re-election on his party's ticket next year;
* blasted President Nixon for urging college presidents to discipline campus demonstrators severely;
* charged that the Nixon administration is not working hard enough for a settlement in Vietnam;
* pledged to work in the current session of Congress for a revision of the draft, which he said is "unjust and irrational."
