Floor of U. Hall Needs Repairing

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Major repairs will almost certainly be needed for the floor of the University Hall Faculty Room, which was found to be dangerously weak after the recent occupation of the building.

Although an engineering study of the room is not yet complete, preliminary results indicate that "it's very probable that major renovation will be needed," Administrative Vice President L. Gard Wiggins said yesterday.

The room--which during the occupation contained several times its legal capacity of 250--has been closed at least until the study is finished.

Wiggins said that new structural steel support coming from the basement, and additional supports across the floor would be needed. "This is a major job," he said.

When asked how much the repairs would cost, Wiggins replied "God, I wouldn't even want to guess."
