Three Crimson Lacrosse Players Make First String All-Ivy Team

Three Harvard lacrosse players were named to the All-Ivy first team, and four others were named to one of the other two teams or were given honorable mention by the Ivy League coaches last week.

Attackman John Ince, midfielder Bruce Regan, and defenseman Mike Ananis were selected for the first unit. Ince, the Crimson feeder, was also on the first team last year when he was the league scoring leader.

Cornell's Mark Webster notched 10 points in his term's 22-3 mauling of Dartmouth last Wednesday to take the title away from Ince, who had appeared to have retained the crown. The Harvard attackmen had more assists (13) than anyone else in the league, however, and had a point total of 27.

Regan

Captain-elect Regan was on the second team last year as a sophomore. He was also honorable mention All-American for his play that season. Regan was the third leading scorer for the Crimson.

This was Ananis third appearance on the All-Ivy listings. In 1967, he was chosen for the second team, and the following year he moved up to the first team. Ananis, third-team, and the following year he moved up to the first team. Ananis, third-team All-American last spring, was the recipient this year of Harvard's highest lacrosse honor, the Class of 1959 Award.

Regan's linemate on the first midfield, Jim Kilkowski, was also honored for the third consecutive season. As a sophomore, Kilkowski was named to the second unit, and last year, to the third team. He was back on the second team this time.

Captain Nicosia

Sophomore Phil Zuckerman was one of the attackmen on the third team, and captain Tom Nicosia and Bill Bennett were honorable mention. Nicosia, a two-year captain, was second team All-Ivy two years ago, and honorable mention in 1968.

Bennett was one of three sophomores on the Crimson defense after injuries sidelined veterans. Many critics felt that Bennett was inexperienced, but he never agreed and now has evidence to back him up. He captained the freshmen last year.

Ince, Regan, Zuckerman, and Bennett will all be back to form a nucleus upon which to build next year's team.

Princeton Places None

With three men apiece, Harvard and Yale dominated the first team while Princeton, the league powerhouse early-in the season, placed none on the top squad. Four Tigers were named to the second team, however.
