Buhl Joins Winthrop As New Senior Tutor

Lance C. Buhl, instructor in History, will become Allston Burr Senior Tutor in Winthrop House beginning July 1. He replaces Daniel Horowitz, instructor in History.

Buhl is presently Assistant Senior Tutor in Dudley House. He was chairman and moderator of the two Soldiers' Field meetings last month.

He received his B. A. degree from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, and his M. A. and Ph. D. from Harvard. He was awarded his Ph. D. last March.

His thesis, The Smooth Water Navy; American Naval Policy and Politics 1865-1876, is a study of congressional-Naval relations under the impact of American foreign and domestic policies.

Buhl has been a sectionman in History 162 and History 132b this year. He has also offered a seminar on Congress and military policy in the 20th century.
