The HUA Formed a Team to Resolve a Constitutional Crisis. It’s Not Going Well.
The freshman lacrosse team goes after its eighth win of the season today when it hosts the University of Massachusetts at 3 p.m. on the Business School field.
The Redmen are talented, but the twice-defeated Yardlings are favored to come out on top. Both UMass and Harvard have lost to Brown. The Bruins subdued the Crimson, 13-10, and UMass, 13-8.
Good Balance
The Yardlings, coached by H. M. Fish, who is leaving after this season, are very well balanced. Both the attack and defense divide the playing time among four players, and there are two very capable midfield lines. In addition, the freshmen are starting to play better as a unit.
Cabie Warren is the top scorer with 27 points, followed by Steve Leahy with 24, and captain Bob Green and Paul Brown with 18 apiece. Leif Rosenberger and Verdi DiSesa, who team with Green on the first midfield, have also made contributions to the prolific scoring. Rosenberger, however, is out with a charley horse, and York Miller is playing in his place.
In their most recent game, the Yardlings trounced an aggressive but sloppy Dartmouth team, 12-3.
