Still undefeated at home, Harvard's varsity baseball team will seek its fourth and fifth consecutive wins when it faces Holy Cross and Pennsylvania this weekend at Soldiers' Field. The Crimson meets the Crusaders at 3 p.m. this afternoon; the Penn game begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Pitching was Harvard's big question mark during spring practice, but two hurlers have been outstanding all season. Southpaw J. C. Nickens, who has compiled a 3-1 record and a phenomenal 0.87 earned run average, will start against Holy Cross.

Coach Loyal Park has chosen right hander Bob Donwart to take the mound on Saturday. With two victories in four starts. Dorwart went the distance in his last same against Boston College and allowed only two runs and five hits.

Holy Cross' chances also depend on the strength of their mound staff. Klaus, the Crusader's leading hurler, pitched a one hitter against Harvard last season for a 4-0 Crimson loss.

In commenting on an improving Quaker opponent, coach Park said, "Penn is stronger this year, and they like to run." They have an advantage in experience over Harvard's sophomore dominated lineup because six of their starters are lettermen from last year.

Statics through eight games show that three Crimson sophomores are most likely to break-up today's pitching duel. Third baseman Dan DeMichele leads the Harvard sluggers with a .519 batting average, while both Pete Bernhard and Pete Varney are hitting over .300.
