Pusey Clarifies Advisory Board

The 68-man advisory board established by President Pusey on Sunday night "has no function whatsoever except to act as a consulting body in the event of another major crisis, such as the occupation of a building," Pusey said last night.

"The decision rests with me, not with the body. But I want to say to the community next time that a wider group of people were consulted, Pusey said.

The board, which is composed of students and faculty from all the Houses and faculties of the University, met briefly yesterday morning.

According to Franklin D. Raines '71, chairman of SFAC and one of the student consultants, many of the students were distrustful of the board. They feared that they would be called in just to give an impression of legitimacy to some future bust. In addition, there was a consensus among the students that they would not participate in an emergency meeting unless representatives of Afro and SDS, not invited to yesterday's meeting, were also consulted.
