Black Studies Funded For Thesis Research

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Committee on Afro-American Studies has established a fund for juniors planning to write theses on Afro-American subjects.

The committee will distribute up to $700 in summer research grants to each of five students. The money comes from the regular Arts and Sciences budget rather than from a special endowment.

Daniel M. Fox, head tutor in History and a member of the Committee, said that "the selection board and the exact criteria for awarding the funds have not yet been established." He added that the these could be in concentrations ranging from Government to Fine Arts.

Applications, with a statement of the proposed topic and the nature of the research, may be sent to Fox at Holyoke Center 759, before April 15.
