The Radcliffe Union of Students, Monday night set up six subcommittees to study the problems of merger. The committees' work will parallel research on similar topics by the Harvard Undergraduate Council and the Administration.

Ellen Messer '69, RUS president, said at the meeting that the research would involve joint work with Faculty and Alumni, as well as with Harvard undergraduates. "We want to take advantage of the expertise in all areas," she said.

The six topics to be studied are coed living, male-female ratio, special problems, of women's education, jurisdiction of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences over students' lives, problems of freshmen, and admissions procedures.

In other business, Miss Messer said that Radcliffe alumnae were concerned about the loss of Radcliffe identity, and especially the loss of the Radcliffe name. Mary Goethals '69 and Janet Edwards '72 were appointed as coordinators to the Alumnae Board to discuss these problems.
