Although final figures are not yet in for this year's Combined Charities drive, indications are that Harvard and Radcliffe students were far less generous than in previous years.
Alan K. Austin '70, chairman of the drive, said that the total collected would probably fall in the $15-20,000 range. Last year's drive raised approximately $26,000.
Of the six charities suggested to students by the Drive, the Biafra Relief Program and the Committee of Responsibility received the largest amounts while Ethiopian Literacy Committee received the least.
Planned Parenthood Popular
Students were also allowed to specify any other charities to which they wanted to contribute. "A lot of people gave to Planned Parenthood," Austin said.
Austin gave no specific reasons for this year's drop in donations, but suggested that poor timing and organization might have contributed.
