Sophomore Rollin McLain came off the bench in the middle of the second half to spark Winthrop House's basketball team to a 70-69 victory over Yale's Davenport College. Winthrop was the only Harvard victor in the winter competition between the top Harvard House and Yale College in each sport.
McLain scored ten straight points, and John Runyon and Vernon Horn combined on fast breaks to build a 62-51 margin with three minutes to play. Football star Del Marting led the final Yale rush that failed with 25 points.

At Yale, a combined Winthrop-Dunster hockey team raced to a 4-0 lead only to see the determined Yale All-Stars win, 6-5. Quincy tankmen lost three judges' decisions in a 33-24 dunking by Branford College, while a more experienced Calhoun squash team defeated league-leading Winthrop, 4-1.
