Students Petition For Coed Living

The HRPC-RUS subcommittee on coeducation yesterday submitted to the Corporation a petition signed by more than 3200 undergraduates requesting coeducational housing for next fall.

Sargent Kennedy, secretary to the Corporation, said he would present the petition to the Corporation at its meeting March 3. The Corporation will consider the Harvard-Radcliffe merger at the same meeting.

Corporation's Mind

It's not clear that even a petition signed by half of Harvard and Radcliffe is going to make any difference," Judith T. Seligson '72, a member of the subcommittee, said yesterday. "The Corporation seems to make up its mind independently of student opinion." she added.

"The members of the Corporation know that there are House Masters at both Harvard and Radcliffe who would be willing at any time to take charge of coeducational houses," Miss Seligson said.
