Stark Appointed Rochester Coach

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The appointment of Peter G. Stark as head football coach at Rochester yesterday has touched off a major reorganization of Harvard's staff by John Yovicsin.

Stark had been an assistant at Harvard for six years, the last four as offensive backfield coach. He is the second assistant to leave Harvard in the last two weeks and the fourth to assume a head coaching job since Yovicsin's rise in 1957. Earlier, S. D. Fazio, who joined the staff last year as defensive line coach, accepted a similar position at his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh.

On the Move

Yovicsin will move Tom Stephens from offensive end coach into Stark's old position as backfield coach, and Bob Yates from associate freshman coach into Fazio's old position as defensive line coach. Both Stephens and Yates are graduates of Syracuse, and former members of the Boston Patriots. Stephens played as an offensive end for the Pats, but was a back during his college career. Both of them joined the Harvard staff last year.

Still Seeking

Yovicsin is still seeking an offensive end coach, and an associate freshman coach as full-time staff members.

"Peter has been an instrumental factor in our offensive success in recent years," Yovicsin said. "He is definitely ready to take over as head coach," he added.
