The superior height of the Harvard freshman basketball team provided the difference in a 114-70 rout of Worcester Academy Saturday afternoon. With 6-5 Marshall Sanders, and 6-7 Floyd Lewis dominating the boards, the first unit leaped to a 40-14 lead before the entire second unit made its appearance midway through the second period.
Coach Ken Klug showed his reserve strength as the second and third units maintained the wide margin with only token help from the first team at the start of the second half. The score read 60-24 at half time, and at the end of the third period it was 83-50.
Although guilty of many errors on offense, the Crimson played tenacious defense in the backcourt forcing abundant Worcester mistakes. The freshmen front lines, never without a man at least 6-7, contributed on numerous tip-ins and turned many offensive rebounds into quick baskets. James Brown was high scorer for the frosh with 17 points, and Lewis and Sanders hit for 16 points each.
