Twenty Students Will Join CFIA

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Twenty Harvard graduate students will join the Center for International Affairs in 1970-71 as Graduate Research Associates and participants in Center study groups and seminars.

Under the new program, the 20 students will receive office space and secretarial help at the CFIA. Except for members of the Quantitative Economic Research Program-which studies financial trends in developing nations-the Associates will receive no pay.

In past years, graduate students have acted as research assistants but never as members of CFIA panels. Joseph S. Nye Jr., Research Fellow in the CFIA. described the new program as "another step in our program to make the Center available to a wider range of students" and as "an effort to make the Center a more lively place."

The Graduate Associates-doctoral candidates writing their theses-will attend CFLA seminars and lunch meetings and will share their research papers with staff members. Each will hold a renewable one-year appointment.
