Inspired by Chris Papagianis' three goals. Harvard's Yardling soccer team powered its way to a satisfying 4-1 victory over Brown last Saturday morning on the Business School Field.

No one was as satisfied by the victory as Yardling coach Dana Getchell. whose charges have encountered unbeaten Brown freshmen teams every year since 1960. "They played a beautiful game," he said of his team after the game.

Papagianis and captain Bobby Auritt both scored in the first period, but Brown tallied in the second to narrow Harvard's lead to 2-1 at halftime. The Crimson took control in the third quarter as Papagianis scored twice, and the defense completely shut off the Brown attack.

The game's first goal came after only two minutes of play had elapsed, when Papagianis took a lead pass from Mossavar-Hahmani and banged a clean shot past the Brown goalie. Late in the first period. Auritt sprinted downfield alone from his right wing position and arched a long shot into the Bruin goal.

Brown rebounded in the second quarter. "They took the play away from us at about the five minute mark-in the second quarter." Getchell admitted after the game. The Bruins worked around the Crimson defense for their only goal of the game midway through the second period.

Crimson fullback Bob Mendelsohn boomed a long pass into Brown territory early in the third period. and Papagianis was there to convert it into his second goal of the game. It was Papagianis again five minutes later who sprinted past the Bruin defense and placed a hard shot into the corner of the Brown goal.

Getchell praised his entire squad after the game and gave special credit to his defensive trio of Mendelsohn. Rick Scott and goalie Peter Asschaffenburg, "It was a real team effort. They had a great week of practice in the rain, and I think they played their best soccer of the year against Brown." he said.
