R & R Show Shows Harvard Listeners Up

WHRB, (95.3 FM) got its head together Saturday with its first rock show in 10 years to the strains of the overwhelming Chuck Berry classic, "Rock and Roll Music" ("any old time you choose it"). The radio station had persistently refrained from Rock & Roll over the last decade, presumably to avoid sullying its air channels with anything so low-brow as a dancing beat. But there is no keeping down a good backbeat ("you can't lose it") and the new hour-long rock program will be broadcast at 6 p.m. on Saturdays for the rest of the year.

The show, entitled "Good Soup", is hosted by Josh Freeman '70. In the first installment Freeman outlined some of the themes around which future programs will be built, such as one illustrating the 'Geographic Idiom in Rock', one show consisting entirely of hit-songs written by Jerry Ragovay ("Time Is On My Side"), entire shows devoted to a single major rock group and perhaps one program of the obscure versions of well known songs.

Next Saturday's program will be an hour-long special on the Who--according to Freeman, "one of the all time great rock groups".
