Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
Harvard's varsity baseball team unleashed its powerful offense for the second straight game to crush Tufts under an eleven-hit barrage for a 12-2 victory yesterday.
The Crimson batsmen took up where they left off Monday--when they battered the highly-touted Dartmouth squad, 17-3.
While hurler Bob Dorwart limited opposing hitters to a pair of runs in eight innings. Harvard jumped off to a threerun lead in the first inning and added two more in the second.
Tufts' pitcher Bill Richardson recovered after the rocky start and blanked the Crimson until the ninth, when Harvard exploded for seven runs.
Although Tufts' defensive lapses helped Harvard, the Crimson hitters provided their own scoring punch when it counted. Every regular in the starting line-up except Dick Manchester collected at least one hit. Manchester accounted for three RBI's.
Other Harvard players who fattened their batting averages were Pete Karageannes, Bill Cobb, and Carter Lord, each with two hits.
Harvard faces Cornell Friday with pitching ace Ray Peters on the mound.
