Vellucci: Ambassador to Harvard

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard and an old foe, City Councillor Alfred E. Vellucci, are going to bury the hatchet--at least for June 13, when Vellucci will be the City's representative at Harvard commencement.

The University had invited Mayor Walter J. Sullivan to attend the ceremony, and the accompanying "spread" in the Fogg, but Sullivan had a prior commitment, the National Mayor's conference in Chicago. So he passed the invitation along to Vellucci, who serves as Cambridge's Vice-Mayor.

Vellucci, who once suggested that Harvard move to Waltham, said that he would not revive this proposal on Commencement day. "There's a time and a place for everything," he commented. At last report, the councillor was being fitted for a new set of coat and tails for the occasion.
