B.U. Protest Kindles Afro Rally Today

Harvard's Association of Afro and Afro-American students will hold a rally today for only black students in support of UMOJA--Boston University's association of black students.

Afro's call for the rally, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in front of Mem Church, said in part, "On April 24 black students of Boston University UMOJA sat-in in an administration building and closed it down for the whole day. Their grievances and demands were similar to Afro's."

"Since April 26 is the official day of the International Student Strike, we feel that this is an appropriate time, in light of recent events, to establish more communications with those at B.U."

A boycott of classes called by Afro in early March, and planned for today as part of an international student strike against the war, is being "de-emphasized" according to Suzanne Lynn '71, Afro spokesman.

"The strike was originally aimed against the war and racism. In light of recent events Afro is placing greater emphasis on racism. Today's rally and strike will be directed toward the manifestations of racism on the university level," Miss Lynn said.
