The freshman golf team had to contend with the weather and a tough Andover squad before Harvard eked out a 4-3 triumph yesterday.
Bob Crosby, who moved up to the number three slot from his customary fifth position, played a clutch 18th hole to win his match one up and clinch the team victory.
Battling the rain and a chill wind, number one man Steve Owen downed his Andover opponent three and two. Mike Stone won five and four and Dave Jones breezed to a six and four victory to account for the remaining team points.
The squad faces M.I.T. next Thursday in hopes of improving its 3-0 record. In their last encounter Harvard routed M.I.T. 7-0.
