Ruggers Smash Tufts in Opener

The Harvard Rugby Club continued its winning ways as it downed a weak Tufts squad, 18-0, in the opening game of the spring season last Saturday at Soldiers Field.

Coming off a grueling Easter vacation training trip to Jamaica, the team picked up on its undefeated season last fall despite generally sloppy play.

Parker Wise started the Crimson rolling when he took a Tufts penalty on the ten yard line and ran it in for a three point try early in the first half. Sione Tupouniua then added another three point try from the 15 year line, and Joe Daly made both two point conversions to put the team ahead 10-0 at half time.

The second half began with freshman Hal Clark's first scoring try, which Daly converted into a five point play, and John Fouts finally finished the scoring for the day when he ran the ball over from the 15 yard line on an assist by Sione.
