Forum to Study Radical Vocation

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Approximately 300 students from various New England schools have registered for the Vocations for Radicals Conference, a three-day forum to be held this weekend at M.I.T.

Conference coordinator Kenneth B. Frisof '68 said, "We are trying to get people to think about methods of sustaining a radical political commitment after college."

"We're motivated by the rapidly rising number of graduating students concerned about how radicals can act within a profession," Frisof said. "We want them to understand the problems they will face."

The conference opened last night with Mrs. Barbara Haber discussing her paper, "Getting by With a Little Help From Our Friends," an account of her experiences as a political radical.

Organizations For Radicals

General workshops will be held this morning, with specific vocation workshops to follow in the afternoon. Sunday morning, Richard J. Rothstein '63, will discuss forming organizations for adult radicals.

Among the topics for discussion are the problems of organizing fellow workers and the feasibility of forming income-sharing communes among professionals.

The forum is jointly being sponsored by "Paper Tiger," an independent radical magazine serving New England, and by New England SDS.
