Cliffies To Help Draft Resisters, Say 'Yes' to Guys Who Say 'No'

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

"Cliffies Say 'Yes' to Guys Who Say 'No'," is the slogan of an advertisement that will appear soon in the CRIMSON.

A new twist on Lysistrata, the ad is the idea of Judith E. Smith '70, Phyllis A. Koshland '71, and Margaret N. Gordon '70, who intend it to demonstrate both support of the SDS-sponsored Harvard Draft Union and opposition to the war.

"We want to show our support for guys facing the draft," Miss Smith said yesterday. "The issues of this war concern us even though we can't be drafted."

Contributions

Girls are now canvassing the Radcliffe dorms, asking contributions of 50 cents. Ninety dollars are needed to pay for the ad, Miss Koshland said. The girls also plan to order buttons bearing their slogan.

Cliffies have been cooperating with the newly-formed Draft Union in other ways as well. Committees now being organized will concentrate on several areas of resistance, including counseling men about to be inducted, canvassing on and off campus, printing and distributing leaflets, and setting up a draft information service.

The counseling program is already in progress, sponsored by the Boston Draft Resistance Group.

The suggestion that the ad include names and telephone numbers of the "girls who say "yes" was not approved.
