Harvard's hapless wrestlers, smarting from a poor 2-8 season, accumulated only four points at the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships held March 8 and 9 at the University of Pittsburgh. Navy won with 92 points.

Paul Padlak, weighing in at 177, won his first and second round matches for two points, but was eliminated in the third round. Howie Chatterton (167) and Bob Panoff (heavyweight) won one match each for Harvard's remaining two tallies.

Injuries weakened the Crimson squad. Captain Andy Kopecki (123) was out of the line-up recovering from an appendectomy. Howie Freedman (177) was suffering from the effects of a bout with mononucleosis, and Danny Naylor (130) sustained a knee injury earlier in the season that kept him out of the last five meets.

"We did as well as could be expected in the light of the bumps and bruises we've had all year," Coach Robert A. Pickett commented ruefully.

Graduating Captain Kopecki predicted things will be better next year.
