Harvard Ticket Office Sells Out Tigers Game

Anyone making the long walk to the Athletic Department office on Boylston Street will be turned away by a sign tacked on the door, "Princeton tickets are sold out." The Harvard ticket office sold the last of its 9000 tickets for the Princeton game on Tuesday night.

"We wen through the $6 tickets right away, and then even the $3 tickets went," Gordon M. Page, ticket manager, said. He added that the tickets were sold out early last year and the year before as well.

Page was quick to say that anyone wanting to go to the game would be able to purchase tickets in Princeton. "I spoke with their ticket office on Tuesday and they told me there are about 10,000 places left in the end zone," Page said.

5000 Left

A spokesman in the Princeton ticket office said yesterday, however, that only 5000 end zone seats are left. "I can probably take care of you," she added, in a slightly southern accent.

The Frinceton ticket manager refused to say why only 9000 tickets were sent to Harvard when more places are available. Palmer Stadium in Princeton holds a crowd of about 45,000. He would not comment on the shortage at Harvard.

The secretary said tickets could be purchased by mail or in person at the ticket office, but with the game two days off, there doesn't seem to be any chance to arrive in Princeton with ticket in hand.

Page said he didn't know why only 9000 tickets were allotted to Harvard. "We get the same number every year, Princeton just sends them up," he said. The Faculty Committee on Athletics decided on the figure years ago, he said.

Unsold tickets are supposed to travel back to Princeton with the Crimson team on Friday night, but this year they're in the pockets of a lucky few.
