Leverett Tops Elis, 12-0, To Pace Intramural Sweep

Leverett House's intramural tackle football championship team shutout Jonathon Edwards-Branford, 12-0, at Soldiers Field yesterday to lead a sweep of the Harvard-Yale tackle football competition.

Eliot won the soccer contest for a seventh Harvard victory, but Quincy lost to Yale's touch football champions, 33-26, on a late touchdown for the Crimson's only intramural loss.

In the Leverett game, Carl Ullman snared a pass from quarterback Pete Karageannes for a 20-yard touchdown the first time the Bunnies got the ball. Later in the half, Karageannes tallied himself on a 20-yard run to complete the scoring.

Eliot's gridders downed Berkeley-Calhoun, 14-6. Steve Esquith scored first on a nine-yard pass from Bill Cherry, but the conversion attempt failed. In the second quarter, Bill Darling scored from two yards out to give the Jumbos a 12-0 lead, and Cherry ran it across for the conversion.

Dan Kopans scored his team's only touchdown to help Dunster to a 7-0 decision over Stiles Morse. Adams routed Saybrook-Trumball, 16-0, as Sonny Black bulled his way in for two touchdowns. Adams athletic secretary Jody Markowski summed it up: "We overpowered them something terrible."

Lowell's Power

Lowell tallied 18 points in the first half in dumping Davenport-Pierson 24-0, while Kirkland's Mike Gannon led an offensive attack that rolled over their Yale opponents, 20-6.

Despite Dan Morgan's outstanding pass reception with Jonathon-Edwards defenders draped all over him. Quincy's defenders draped all over him. Quiney's touch football team lost to the Yale gridders, 33-26. Flashy flankerback Jim Fabiani scored two of Quincy's touchdowns on passes, and Tommy Harris added another.
