The Detroit Tigers showed that they haven't lost any of their bite as they roared back at the St. Louis Cardinals to win the second game of the World Series, 8-1.
Tiger pitcher Mickey Lolich did what super-star Denny McLain couldn't as he twirled a six hitter and blasted a home run in the Tiger romp. The homer was Lolich's first in the majors, and was one of three Tiger blasts during the day.
The 27-year-old left-hander had a shut-out going until the sixth inning when the Cards finally scored on a walk to Lou Brock, a single by Curt Flood and a bloop single by Orlando Cepeda.
Norm Cash and Willie Horton got the other two Tiger homers off Cardinal starter Nelson Briles.
So there is still hope for the Tiger fans, for Detroit will return to the Motor City with the Series even at 1-1.
