Harvard's freshmen football team, featuring the passing of Terry Wynne and the running of Steve Harrison, is looking for its second victory of the season today in a 3:00 p.m. game at Boston College.
Wynne and Harrison each scored two touchdowns in the Yardlings' 34-6 romp over Columbia last Friday. Fullback Pete Fisher, halfback Dave Ignacio, and end Denis Sullivan added the other scores. Sullivan's tally came on a fifty-yard punt return.
One player whom Coach Henry Lamar expects to play a big role in today's contest is George Roben. Roben was responsible for the good field position which the Crimson enjoyed most of the afternoon against Columbia. His punting average of 33 yards on six kicks compared favorably with the eighteen-yard average compiled by the Lions' kicker.
Containment
The strong Harvard defense has the assignment of containing the usually powerful Eagle offense. After a quick first period touchdown by Columbia last week, the Yardlings adjusted and shut out the opposition the rest of the game. Defensive backfield coach Jerry Beasley '66 said he was especially impressed by the play of Del Maughan.
Head Coach Henry Lamar said he hopes that his freshmen will continue to show the teamwork they displayed in their opener. The eleven works together much better than most first-year teams this early in the season, he said.
There will be no changes in today's starting lineup, and Lamar said he is planning to maintain the balance of passing and running in the offensive attack.
This will be the seventh game in the series with B.C. The Eagles have won three and lost two. The last time that the two teams met was in 1965, with the game ending in a 14-14 tie.
