Princeton and Yale dominate Ivy football this week, thanks to decisive victories last Saturday.
Even the extra 6000 fans in Dartmouth's new seats couldn't prevent the 34-7 loss to the powerful Tiger pack. Princeton scored the first three times it had the ball and could afford to give its fullback captain, Ellis Moore, a rest while sophomore backfield find Brian McCullough gained an astounding 144 yards rushing.
Yale quarterback Brian Dowling looked unstoppable again last Saturday as he directed a 35-13 rout of Brown, Dowling contributed 303 yards to Yale's record 614-yard attack. Brown, minus its first-string quarterback, could find no defense against the incredible Dowling. He threw two touchdown bombs of 40 and 75 yards to halfback Calvin Hill. When he could see no receiver down field in the second quarter he simply ran it in himself from 54 yards out.
Penn's 10-8 upset victory over Cornell resulted from a fourth period field goal. Cornell entered the game unbeaten and it will probably rebound strongly in its contest this week with Harvard.
Shaky Win
Harvard returns to Cambridge following a shaky 21-14 defeat of Columbia. The Crimson took advantage of two Lion errors deep in Columbia territory but was able to score on only one of its own drives.
The Yale-Columbia game is being billed as the battle of the quarterbacks--Domres and Dowling--but Columbia is unlikely to match Yale's overall power.
Colgate lost decisively to Cornell earlier this season and will probably regret showing up at Princeton.
