Mildred Dunnock Named Lecturer

Actress Mildred Dunnock has accepted a temporary appointment as lecturer on Theatre at the Loeb Drama Center.

Beginning in Feb., she will work with undergraduates on acting and directing techniques. The ten-week seminar-type program will be non-credit, George E. Hamlin Jr., Associate Director of the Loeb, said last night.

"Miss Dunnock will try to accommodate as many people as possible, without creating an unwieldy group," he said.

Miss Dunnock's acting career includes performances on stage, in films, and on television. Her most notable creation was Linda Loman in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman.

The actress plans to hold auditions to select students, Hamlin said. He added that previous acting experience would probably not be a major criterion.

Student directors, may have a chance to direct Miss Dunnock in the seminar, Hamlin said. The program may terminate with a presentation in the Experimental Theathre, he said.

Miss Dunnock has taught at Barnard College and Vassar College. She is the first lecturer on Theatre at the Loeb.
