Crimson Icemen Down Bruin JV

After battling through two frustrating periods, the undefeated Harvard JV hockey team erupted for three goals in the final period yesterday, and overpowered their Brown counterparts 5-3.

Entering the third period with the score tied 2-2, the Crimson offense rallied. Quick goals by Dan Burnes and Peter Haley gave Harvard a 4-2 edge. After a Brown score had narrowed the lead to 4-3, the visitors pulled their goalie to strengthen their offense with four minutes left. Tom Mechem slapped the puck into the unguarded cage at 11:45 for Harvard's final goal.

Sloppy shooting by Harvard during the first two periods enabled Brown to keep the game close. An aroused Harvard offense continually pressured the Brown goal, but despite scores by Haley and Jim Baldassari, the Crimson was unable to take the lead until the final period.

The victory was the team's sixth, with one tie against the Boston College freshmen. The Brown JV has a 4-3 record.
