To the editors of the Crimson:
A common and valid criticism by non-Jewish Middle Easterners is that the U.S. press is strongly influenced by Jews and Jewish sympathizers who continually feed the American public an unbalanced view of the whole Middle Eastern situation. Your August 11 article by an American Jew is typical evidence for this charge. I am referring specifically to his naive and one-sided narration of all the things that he didn't see and of all the events that never took place. e.g. "It is horrifying to speculate what would have happened had Israel been over-run by Arab forces at the outbreak of hostilities. Not only would the blood-shed have surpassed anything in recent history,..." p. 3.
In lieu of printing more of this propaganda I recommend that the Crimson invite knowledgeable, but impartial persons from U.N. agencies dealing with the Middle East situation to write frankly about the problems involved. Possibly in this way, we may begin to learn a little of the truth. PAUL J. MAGNARELLA
