Faculty and alumni friends of John H. Finley '25 have presented the University with a fellowship in his honor. The fellowship will finance a year of travel or study -- preferably outside the United States -- and will be worth approximately $3500.

Creation of the fellowship was announced at a dinner Friday night honoring Finley's 25th year as Master of Eliot House. More than 750 students, Faculty, and alumni turned out for the celebration, held in the Palmer-Dixon tennis courts.

According to the text of the fellowship, the recipient should "best exemplify the quality of humanity which John Finley has taught during his career as a scholar, teacher, and Master and which he himself so nobly exemplifies."

The fellowship will be awarded annually and will be open to all seniors; preference, however, will be shown to members of Eliot House.
