Chapin to Become Emerson President

Richard Chapin '44, an assistant dean at the Harvard Business School, was named the ninth president of Emerson College in Boston Wednesday.

Chapin, who assists in educational planning, has worked in labor relations, teaching and student personnel. On the business school staff since 1949, he has been director of the master's degree program in Business Administration.

Emerson College is primarily involved with communications education, specializing in speech and speech therapy as well as broadcasting. The four-year co-educational school has about 1000 students.
